Please help us to help the animals in our care throughout the ongoing Coronavirus crisis!
RSPCA Cumbria West is an independent, separately registered charity from the main RSPCA. We are self funding and raise money locally to support the animal welfare work we do. We are now facing a massive funding shortfall. Like all charities, we have had to close our charity shop again, cancel vital fundraising events and limit animal adoptions - our main sources of funding.
We still have animals in our care and will continue to help any animals that need us. Our dedicated volunteers are working incredibly hard throughout this period to ensure the animals, and themselves, are safe. We know that as time goes on there will be more animals that need our help and we want to continue to be here to help them.
Donations are at an all time low. We are appealing to our loyal supporters to kindly consider helping us through this crisis by making a donation.

On 4th July 2019, Rocco, a German Shepherd in our care, was put to sleep after a cancer mass was discovered in his stomach.
Rocco was rescued from a neglectful life along with three other dogs. His owner, who was jailed for the act, starved him to the point that he was unable to stand under his own weight from muscle loss. When our Inspector rescued him, he was considerably underweight. Although he was adopted once by a family, he was soon returned to us due to his nature (he had never fully recovered from being starved) and lived the rest of his life in the kennels.
Rocco was a lovely boy with a great personality, always happily greeting anyone he met. Unfortunately, due to his age, we had difficulty finding anyone willing to adopt him and give him the forever home he deserved. When he passed away at the age of 10, he was still living in the kennels, having never experienced a life with a true loving family.
He will be sorely missed by all of the Branch volunteers, kennel staff and especially by our Inspector who found him and his canine group. RIP.
Don't let a rescued pet live out its life in a kennel. Rehome an animal now!
